What size pond suits you best?  This is usually determined by several factors.  Namely, the size and shape of your yard, your personal tastes, maintenance requirements, and naturally, your budget. 

As a general rule, get the largest pond your yard will support and you can afford.  Studies have shown that 95% of pond owners that start with a smaller pond will eventually expand it or build a larger one.  And surprisingly, a larger pond can be easier to maintain than a smaller one.  Changes in temperature and water quality occur more slowly in a larger pond, allowing your fish and plant life to adapt more easily. 

For those who are building their own ponds, Coral Bay offers several standard sized pond kits, containing everything necessary to construct a beautiful ecosystem in your backyard.  A 4' x 6' "starter" kit is available with a depth of 18".  Otherwise, all kits are configured to be 24" deep.  Components are selected to match these standard sizes:
